Job summary

GFT is seeking a Sr. Structural Engineer to join our Buildings and Places Structural Team in Mechanicsburg, Valley Forge, or Philadelphia, PA. This role supports a hybrid work model with regular office attendance.

We deliver innovative structural solutions for buildings and infrastructure, using BIM collaboration and design optimization. The successful candidate will lead design efforts on diverse projects, mentoring junior staff and coordinating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 8+ years of structural engineering experience in buildings and/or infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead, perform, and review structural design and analysis calculations.
• Prepare construction plans for a wide variety of building and infrastructure structures.
• Develop contract documents including plans, details and specifications.
• Perform calculations per applicable building codes and standards.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and contractor requests.
• Conduct structural observations and field investigations on site.
• Prepare summaries and detailed reports with clear writing.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
• Develop and review structural analysis models using engineering software.
• Serve as structural lead or project engineer and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Perform technical reviews and quality control of deliverables.
• Support client coordination and proposal development.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and staffing of structural scope.
