Job summary

KFI Engineers is a leading facility infrastructure design firm headquartered in St. Paul, MN, with a national footprint.

We seek a Senior Structural Engineer (Level IV) to lead structural design efforts, act as Engineer of Record, and guide project execution from scope through delivery. The role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines, mentoring of junior staff, and active participation in client meetings and proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Design.
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification in multiple states, or willingness to pursue within one year.
• Strong structural design experience across a variety of industries and materials.
• Experience using structural analysis software (RISA or similar).
• Demonstrated consistency in successful combination of design and/or project management.
• Understand Process, Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, and Civil Engineering construction practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Knowledge of MS Office and computer technology.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without sponsorship.
• Represent the company in a professional matter.
• Travel: 5% or less, 1–2 days.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the discipline lead for multiple concurrent projects; performing engineering calculations, overseeing drawing development, delegating design tasks, resource planning, QA reviews and mentoring.
• Act as the Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
• Lead effective project execution by developing scope estimates and keeping work within budget.
• Create project plans and schedules for execution of work.
• Oversee the production of construction documents including drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate work with internal and external stakeholders for alignment and project delivery.
• Supervise engineers and designers, providing performance guidance and workload direction.
• Provide work direction to team members and subcontractors across departments.
• Mentor and support the professional growth of developing structural team members.
• Participate in business development through proposals and client meetings.
