Job summary

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) in Omaha, NE seeks an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead industrial steel and concrete projects and guide design teams. You will review calculations, mentor juniors, and coordinate with architects and clients to ensure safe, compliant structures.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in power/industrial sectors, PE licensure, and strong communication skills. Travel for site visits and construction support is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or related field.
• 12+ years structural engineering experience in power and industrial sectors.
• Professional engineer registration required; structural engineer registration preferred.
• Knowledge of analysis software and 3D design tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide technical guidance throughout the structural design and engineering process.
• Coordinate, review and approve building design plans, ensuring code compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide discipline-specific expertise.
• Prepare data visualizations, charts, calculations and 2D/3D illustrations.
• Develop comprehensive structural technical reports and presentations.
• Analyze site investigation data and contribute to risk mitigation plans.
• Interact with architects, consultants and clients professionally.
• Design and ensure safety of temporary construction structures.
• Perform material takeoffs for steel and concrete on industrial projects.
• Write specifications and scopes for steel, concrete and geotech materials.
• Travel to job sites for walkdowns and commissioning support.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to meet quality and schedule targets.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural or related field

Professional Engineer (P.E.)

Structural Engineer (S.E.) (preferred)

Strong language skills

Project management knowledge
