Job summary

Structural Design Group, Inc. in Birmingham, Alabama, is seeking a full-time structural engineer to perform analysis and design for diverse building projects.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in structural engineering (analysis and detailing) with minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with structural emphasis (Required).
• Master's degree with structural emphasis (Preferred).
• Professional engineer licensure in Alabama (or can obtain within 6 months of hire).
• Knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC and ability to apply them in design.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills; able to document calculations clearly.
• Excellent communication and teamwork; able to collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience supervising and mentoring less experienced engineers; prior experience with commercial/institutional/industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for building projects; prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications meeting safety and client requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers; review project documents and coordinate design details.
• Use CAD and BIM tools to develop and revise structural plans; support value engineering efforts.
• Assist with construction administration activities, including RFIs and shop drawing reviews.
• Manage multiple projects; maintain high quality and meet deadlines.
