About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join a well-established multidisciplinary engineering and consulting organization with a strong portfolio of commercial, industrial, municipal, and institutional projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of new construction, renovation, assessment, and infrastructure-related projects while collaborating with talented professionals across multiple disciplines.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to projects from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze structural systems for buildings, foundations, retaining walls, and other site-related structures.
- Develop structural calculations, technical specifications, and construction documents.
- Apply building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices to create safe, efficient, and practical design solutions.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project lifecycles.
- Perform structural assessments and evaluations for existing facilities, including recommendations for repairs, renovations, and upgrades.
- Support construction-phase services through field observations, shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, and technical consultation.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical studies, and structural assessment documentation.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and design staff.
- Contribute to maintaining high-quality deliverables while meeting project schedules and client expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to practice in Alabama.
- 10+ years of structural engineering design experience.
- Demonstrated experience with building structures, foundations, retaining walls, and similar structural systems.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software.
- Strong knowledge of structural materials, building codes, and applicable industry standards.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments is highly preferred.
