Amazon is seeking a Sr. Structural Engineer to lead and guide global DC design efforts. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including program management, architecture, and operations to ensure robust, cost‑effective and compliant structural solutions.

The role requires a strong background in seismic design and building envelope systems, plus the ability to communicate complex decisions to senior leadership. This is a high‑impact DC engineering role based in Herndon, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities.
• Experience researching new designs and construction methods for data centers.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for the region.
• Experience presenting technical decisions to management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and governance of the global Basis of Design (BOD).
• Lead special projects with impact on AWS infrastructure design and cost.
• Be a leader and technical educator within internal and external teams.
• Define building requirements with risk management and procurement teams.
• Decompose complex structural issues into actionable solutions.
• Develop prototypical building solutions meeting quality requirements.
• Advise on foundation/structural systems and superstructure options.
• Host collaborative meetings to drive innovative and sustainable solutions.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with codes.
