Job summary

Mach Industries seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to design and analyze lightweight composite airframe structures for autonomous vehicles. You will develop GFEMs, perform FEA, and guide fabrication and testing to ensure performance and scalable production.

Lead sizing, model development, and integration with CAD, while mentoring junior engineers and supporting design reviews in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in lightweight structural design and analysis for aerospace/defense.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil/Structural engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, load paths, stiffness, strength, stability, buckling.
• Experience developing and using finite element models to influence structural design.
• Experience with large vehicle GFEMs, shell/beam/rigid element formulations, and detailed component analyses.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural concepts for UAV and aircraft platforms with emphasis on lightweight design and manufacturability.
• Maintain vehicle-level GFEMs for sizing, stiffness evaluation, and load distribution.
• Translate GFEM results into component-level design loads and analyses.
• Perform structural sizing using hand calculations and finite elements.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to optimize geometry for analysis results.
• Review CAD data for manufacturability, load-path continuity, and structural assumptions.
