Job summary

Traffic Planning & Design, Inc. is seeking an experienced structural engineer to support structural reviews for locally sponsored projects, including bridges, culverts and retaining walls.

The successful candidate will participate in structural design activities and work within a collaborative team. Ideal candidates have at least 8 years of civil engineering experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage multiple projects while delivering high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• PA PE preferred
• PennDOT design experience preferred
• Prior oversight of design teams for County or State bridge projects
• Experience using CADD Software (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Review structure submissions from project concept through project letting.
• Provide support to clients as a structural engineering subject matter expert.
• Prepare design computations, quantity estimates, and construction cost estimates.
• Perform superstructure, substructure, foundation and geometric layout design tasks.
• Analyze field data, reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.
• Obtain, analyze, and interpret data for project decisions.
• Prepare or modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs.
• Use computer-aided engineering and design software to prepare documents.
• Assist business development through project research and field reconnaissance.
