Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Foley, Alabama, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to provide technical support for complex metallic and composite aircraft structures. You will perform static, fatigue, and fracture analyses, develop repair designs, and collaborate across Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to improve producibility and reduce cost.

The role offers onsite work with exposure to multiple aircraft programs and opportunities to drive continuous improvement and engineering

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with minimum 5 years experience or advanced degree with 3 years experience.
• Experience performing static stress and fatigue analysis using classical methods and finite element analysis.
• Experience using Patran or comparable finite element analysis tools.
• Experience with load paths, free body diagrams, load balance, structural sizing, and common failure modes.
• Ability to independently develop analysis approaches and solve technical problems.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, leadership, and customer organizations.
• Proficient/advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Perform complex structural analyses using hand and computer calculations (static, fatigue, fracture) of aerospace components.
• Define, assess, and document repair designs for metallic and composite structures.
• Work with MRB to develop standard repair instructions.
• Analyze repair proposals and prepare engineering reports for customers and FAA approval.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to identify cost reductions.
• Develop and implement processes and tools to improve efficiency in Engineering Production Support workflows.
• Review technical documentation and provide feedback.
• Communicate findings clearly to engineering leadership and customers.
