Job description

Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has a new opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to provide project leadership and technical proficiency to deliver high-quality designs for a portfolio of clients. We are seeking a motivated and achievement-oriented individual to take ownership of the structural design on projects and be accountable for the delivery of the project structural team.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop scopes of work and effort estimates for structural projects.
  2. Manage structural project teams, ensuring budget and schedule compliance.
  3. Design structural components for tanks, basins, and building facilities at water and wastewater treatment plants.
  4. Design for industrial water facilities.
  5. Create designs for concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structures per IBC standards.
  6. Perform condition assessments of existing structures.
  7. Prepare detailed design sketches and work within CAD or Revit, coordinating with staff for 3D modeling and drawings.
  8. Draft construction specifications.
  9. Coordinate with architects and other engineering disciplines.
  10. Provide construction administration support, including review of submittals, RFI responses, and site observations.
  11. Use structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, RAM, and Enercalc.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Extensive knowledge of structural design for various materials per IBC and standards.
  2. At least 10 years of experience in structural engineering design.
  3. Strong seismic design background using current code analysis procedures.
  4. B.S. in Civil Engineering.
  5. PE license required.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. M.S. in Civil Engineering with emphasis on structural coursework.
  2. Experience with water treatment plants, ports, or heavy civil projects.
  3. Experience with ASCE 41 standards.
  4. Experience with wastewater treatment or industrial facilities; commercial experience is a plus.
  5. SE license or ability to obtain within one year is advantageous.
Salary:

The starting salary range varies depending on location and experience, with potential adjustments in the future.

Location A: $131,000 - 179,000

Location B: $144,000 - 197,000

Location C: $157,000 - 215,000
