Job summary

ApTask Global Workforce seeks a Senior Structural Engineer for a Hybrid/Remote role in Philadelphia, PA. The successful candidate will lead design of steel and concrete building systems from concept through construction.

Ideal candidates have 10–20 years of experience, PE licensure, and advanced STAAD Pro proficiency; responsibilities include directing drawings, reviews, and client coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• 10+ years of progressive structural design experience; 10-20 preferred.
• Strong knowledge of STAAD Pro and BIM modeling.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design activities, establishing design criteria and developing safe, constructible solutions.
• Perform and review structural calculations using hand calculations, spreadsheets, Mathcad, and 3D models in STAAD Pro.
• Design and evaluate steel framing, concrete structures, foundations, and connections across projects.
• Direct structural designers and coordinate development of complete contract drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Review engineering calculations, models, and drawings for accuracy, code compliance, coordination, and constructability.
• Serve as a senior technical resource, resolving complex design issues and guiding engineers.
• Coordinate with clients, PMs, architects, and other disciplines to manage scope and schedules.
• Mentor junior/mid-level engineers and support engineering standards and quality control.

Job description

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for a Hybrid/Remote position with a Global Engineering Firm located in Philadelphia, PA. This is a 5+ month contract opportunity.

This role leads the structural analysis and design of steel and concrete building systems, providing technical direction from initial concept through construction. The ideal candidate brings 10-20 years of structural engineering experience, strong technical judgment, and advanced proficiency in STAAD Pro, with the ability to independently lead complex designs, review engineering deliverables, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead structural design activities, establishing design criteria, selecting structural systems, and developing safe, constructible solutions
• Perform and review structural calculations using hand calculations, spreadsheets, Mathcad, and 3D analysis models in STAAD Pro
• Design and evaluate steel framing, concrete structures, foundations, and connections across a variety of projects
• Direct structural designers and coordinate the development of complete contract drawings, specifications, and supporting calculations
• Review engineering calculations, models, and drawings for accuracy, code compliance, coordination, and constructability
• Serve as a senior technical resource, resolving complex design issues and providing guidance to engineers and designers
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to manage scope, schedules, and technical requirements
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and support consistent engineering standards and quality control practices
• Support construction through responses to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluation of field conditions and proposed changes

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Active Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design of building systems; 10-20 years preferred
• Extensive experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead structural design assignments and review the work of other engineers
• Advanced working proficiency in STAAD Pro
• Working knowledge of Revit and experience coordinating structural BIM models and drawing production
• Strong knowledge and practical application of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and other applicable structural codes and standards
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects and communicating technical recommendations to clients and project teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay range: up to $82.73 per hour
