Job summary

US Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command in Jacksonville, FL seeks a qualified Structural Engineer (Professional Engineer) to lead design and inspection efforts on complex facilities projects. The SPF requires current PE registration and submission of proof with the application.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) from any state, DC, Guam or Puerto Rico; include copy with your application.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS-12 in structural engineering for facilities.
  • Experience in providing structural analysis for designs on complex projects.
  • Experience in preparing work drawings and technical specifications for structural portions of construction projects.
  • Experience in managing projects from cradle to grave within budget, schedule and quality standards.

Job description

This position has a Selective Placement Factor (SPF). You must have a current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) from any state, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. If you meet this requirement, you must provide a copy of your current registration with your application. A copy of a wall certificate that does not show current registration status will not serve to verify you meet this requirement.

In addition to the SPF, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:

  • 1) Providing structural engineering analysis and expertise for designs on a wide range of complex projects on new and existing facilities
  • 2) Preparing work drawings and technical specifications for the structural portion on construction projects
  • 3) Performing field investigations to verify and document existing conditions as a basis for the design for new/existing projects
  • 4) Providing technical specifications and assisting with detailed labor and material cost estimates for use in obtaining project funding for bid evaluation
  • 5) Managing assigned projects from cradle to grave for adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards
