Responsibilities

  • Prepare, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, rules, and internal standards.
  • Conduct on-site investigations and field measurements.
  • Develop engineering calculations to support design and collaborate on drawings.
  • Communicate with project managers and other participants daily.
  • Support construction administration and SME reviews.
  • Mentor project team members and assign responsibilities.

Manufacturing / Industrial — Atlanta, GA (Hybrid)

About the Role

Our client, a large industrial manufacturing organization, is seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to join their Manufacturing Engineering Group. This role supports plant operations across the organization's manufacturing footprint, performing structural design for industrial projects involving gravity, lateral, and equipment loading, while assisting in the preparation of construction documents. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of building codes, construction materials, industry standards, and analytical software such as RAM Elements, and will work closely with project teams, project managers, and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery.

This is a hybrid role, requiring at least 2 days per week onsite at the company's Atlanta facility.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, rules, industry practices, and internal engineering standards
  • Conduct on-site investigations, assessments, and field measurements
  • Develop engineering calculations to support design, and collaborate with modelers and drafters on drawing production
  • Communicate and collaborate daily with project managers and other project participants
  • Support construction administration
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) reviews
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor project team members

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in a structural engineering role
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of construction materials and methodologies
  • Deep familiarity with concrete, steel, wood, masonry, and cold-formed steel design provisions
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address on-site issues and keep projects on track
  • Knowledge of design and visualization software such as RAM Structural Systems, RAM Elements, RAM Connections, and Enercalc
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license
  • Willingness and ability to travel to manufacturing sites up to 40% of the time, depending on project needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in structural engineering
  • Familiarity with industrial applications
  • Experience within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD and Revit
