Job summary

Thorough Built, LLC in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Detailer to join our production team. You will create precise 3D models and shop drawings, coordinate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication staff, and ensure accuracy and compliance with AISC standards.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of steel detailing experience, proficiency in Tekla Structures or SDS2, and a strong eye for detail. On-site role with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on structural steel detailing experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
• Minimum 3 years of active daily experience using Tekla Structures or SDS2.
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference complex architectural and structural drawing sets.
• Firm grasp of AISC standards, standard structural shapes, and connection design (bolted/welded).
• Exceptional spatial visualization and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling & Drawing Production using Tekla Structures or SDS2 to generate shop drawings and BOMs.
• Contract Document Analysis to establish project scope and material requirements.
• Clash Detection & RFI Management to maintain schedules and resolve issues.
• Ensure modeling and detailing comply with AISC, codes, and project specs.
• Generate CNC files (NC/DSTV) and support shop and field teams during fabrication and erection.
