AME Engineering in Dallas is seeking a highly motivated Steel Detailer to create 3D models and fabrication-level information for diverse construction projects. The role emphasizes Tekla-based modeling, accurate documentation, and cross-team coordination with internal engineers and field teams.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of steel detailing, proficiency in 3D software (Tekla or SDS/2), and strong communication. This full-time position offers growth, training, and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in CAD or related field
• 1–3 years steel detailing experience
• Knowledge of 3D modeling software (Tekla Structures or SDS/2)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter with ability to start and finish a project on time
• Ability to organize, plan and manage multiple activities
• Programming experience (Visual Studio or Python) a plus
• Experience with APIs a plus

Responsibilities

• Accurately interpret construction documents
• Develop fabrication-level information early in the design process based upon feedback and coordination with internal engineering and construction team members
• Coordination of models from various trades (HVAC, MEP, etc.) for clash detection and coordination
• Create 3D models utilizing Tekla from early design information and construction documents
• Prepare and modify shop drawings including erection, assembly, and part drawings for fabrication utilizing Tekla 3D modeling software
• Manipulate existing models and drawings as needed
• Check models through in-model review and report creation
• Continuing education through a combination of in-house and company-funded external training
