Job summary

The Austin Company is seeking a design engineer to perform engineering and design work on building projects in the Cleveland area. The role requires applying standard design techniques, preparing drawings and specifications, and coordinating with other disciplines to avoid conflicts.

Candidates should have a 4-year engineering degree, 5–8 years of related experience, and RevIt software experience. EIT/EI certification is preferred. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs detailed calculations and specifications and prepares working drawings for a small project or a detailed segment of a larger project.
• Prepares technical specifications for review and approval.
• Responsible for selection of materials to satisfy the scope of the project.
• Evaluates vendors’ bids and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Reviews and approves design drawings of other team members for an assigned segment of a project.
• Leads coordination with other disciplines to prevent clashes between systems.
• Coordinates with field personnel and contractors to resolve construction problems and conducts site inspections to ensure conformity with drawings and specs.
