This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

This position will be responsible for the design, analysis, development, testing, and qualification of structures for New Glenn’s second stage. It will directly impact space exploration history and requires a commitment to safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities Include
  1. Design, analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary structures
  2. Create 3D models, detail part drawings, assemblies, and interface control documents
  3. Create test plans, specifications, and documentation for flight hardware development
  4. Provide technical guidance for integration
  5. Support manufacturing and production
  6. Support configuration development and trade studies
  7. Participate in subsystem test planning, execution, data analysis
  8. Work with cross-functional teams on materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers
  9. Develop component specifications and manage suppliers
  10. Plan, coordinate, and review tests and data
  11. Develop and purchase new equipment and tooling
  12. Maintain activity schedules, budgets, and technical reports
  13. Mentor and assist other engineers
  14. Identify opportunities for improvements and cost savings

Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in structural design and analysis of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles
  • Judgment skills to assess structural models
  • Experience working in small, fast-paced teams
  • History of developing solutions with evolving requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Creo, Windchill, PLM, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build trust and contribute to an inclusive culture
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful status in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
  • M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • Experience across product lifecycle stages
  • Scripting skills (Matlab, Python)
  • Experience with Confluence, JIRA
  • Expertise in structural mechanics, finite element analysis, industry analysis codes
  • Proficiency with Creo Wildfire, Windchill
  • Experience with hardware development, manufacturing processes, systems engineering, and optimization methods

Compensation for WA applicants: $117,498.00-$164,497.20. Other site ranges may differ.
