Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Stress Engineer to perform aircraft structural analysis using classical methods and FEM. You will lead a small team, mentor engineers, and help develop bids with labor forecasts while ensuring FAA and military airworthiness compliance.

The role requires strong hands-on analysis, collaboration with design teams, and travel to hangars. Candidates should have advanced FEM skills and experience with NX/Teamcenter, and be eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or related field with 6+ years of structural analysis experience.
• Graduate degree with 4+ years of experience or 10+ years in lieu of degree.
• Experience in fixed-wing transport structural analysis and airworthiness requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform classical hand analysis and FEM to predict internal loads and stresses.
• Lead a small team of stress engineers, mentoring on problems, budgets, and schedules.
• Develop engineering estimates for bids and provide labor forecasts.
• Create free body diagrams and calculate loads and stresses.
• Document analysis in formal reports to ensure airworthiness compliance.
• Collaborate with design engineers on aircraft modifications and installations.
• Review CAD/PLM data and ensure design meets airworthiness requirements.
• Travel to flight lines and hangars as needed (5% travel).
• Ensure compliance with FAA/military requirements and maintain security clearance.
• Drive efficiency and manage scope, budget, and schedules for tasks.
