Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Stress Engineer to perform structural analysis on metallic nacelles and aerostructure components, using FE methods and hand calculations. You will trade studies and define final configurations with safety, weight, cost and producibility in mind for military and commercial applications.

You will collaborate with global engineering teams, conduct design trades, and report analysis results to support airworthiness certification. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• Experience in a Stress Engineer role.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress analysis of aircraft components, assemblies, and systems as part of an integrated design team.
• Develop finite element models and load cases for static, fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture, and vibration analyses.
• Evaluate structural integrity using hand calculations and FE methods.
• Generate documentation to support airworthiness certification.
• Collaborate with domestic and international engineering teams.
