Senior Special Operations Strategic Analyst (SOSA)
I am seeking a Senior Special Operations Strategic Analyst (SOSA) to provide strategic analysis, subject matter expertise, and planning support for special operations and joint-force initiatives. The successful candidate will support data development, modeling, scenario planning, operational concept development, and coordination with senior Department of Defense stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze raw data and provide updates, reconciliation, and management recommendations for the special operations components of Director, Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (DCAPE) data products and repositories.
- Identify and recommend data modifications required before information is entered into preprocessing tools, models, and simulations.
- Validate data accuracy and availability to support the analytical goals and requirements of the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW), Joint Staff (JS), and U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
- Provide special operations data and subject matter expertise to support the development of near-term and long-term scenarios, strategic and operational concepts of operations (CONOPs), and associated force lists.
- Ensure that special operations-specific forces and joint-enabling capabilities are accurately represented in scenarios and operational concepts.
- Support USSOCOM database development and the modeling of baseline cases and excursions in support of the Defense Planning Scenarios and requirements processes.
- Participate in meetings and conferences with OSD, Joint Staff, Theater Special Operations Commands, service components, USSOCOM staff, and other stakeholders.
- Support war games, tabletop exercises, and USSOCOM CONOP development for Defense Planning Scenarios through in-person participation, travel, and secure video teleconferencing.
- Coordinate meetings and secure video teleconferences, and prepare read-ahead materials as required.
- Document and report actions resulting from working groups, conferences, and other collaborative forums.
- Review, provide, track, and update comments during product-staffing processes to support the integration of Joint Staff, Under Secretary of War for Policy, military service, and Combatant Command inputs.
- Conduct CONOP analyses that represent component equities and prepare component-specific CONOP narratives.
Position Requirements
- At least 10 years of uniformed military experience, including demonstrated expertise in Special Operations, such as Navy Special Warfare, Army Special Forces, or Air Force Special Operations.
- At least 3 years of experience in deliberate planning or demonstrated expertise in joint planning; this experience may be concurrent with the 10 years of military experience.
- Military education in operational planning.
- Knowledge of National Missions forces is preferred.
- A current Department of War Top Secret clearance and eligibility for an upgrade to Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), with ACCM read-on, within four months of hire.
