Job summary

phia LLC in Central Maryland is seeking a Senior Strategic Communications Specialist to lead strategic communications, public affairs support, branding and digital content for a national security organization. The role requires coordinating messaging across media, web, events, and internal/external communications.

You will develop communication strategies, manage public relations and brand campaigns, oversee design and media production, and ensure compliance with security requirements.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in strategic communications or a similar field; or 8-10 years with a BA/BS; or 6-8 years with an MA/MS/MBA.
• Active Secret clearance required.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies, coordinate media activities, and support executive briefings with talking points, graphics, and read-ahead materials.
• Coordinate public relations, advertising, and brand campaigns while maintaining brand consistency across channels.
• Develop and distribute news and informational content for internal and external audiences per SLAs.
• Manage web content updates, perform quality checks, and ensure messaging and security compliance.
• Oversee design and production of graphics, video, and photography, and maintain a digital media library.
• Plan and execute events and conferences, including registrations, agendas, venues, speaker coordination, and post-event summaries.
• Assist the public affairs office with documenting engagements per SOPs to support efficiency and continuity.
