Job summary

Protagonist seeks a Strategic Communications Associate Director to join our Washington, DC team. You will work with senior defense stakeholders to design and execute strategic communications initiatives aligned with priorities and mission objectives.

Ideal candidates have deep experience in national security or technology-focused settings, robust stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into executive-ready materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s with 5+ years.
• Current Top Secret clearance and SCI/SAP eligibility.
• Experience engaging senior executives, government officials, and industry stakeholders.
• Excellent business communication skills and ability to translate complex concepts.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver strategic communications initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted advisor relationships with client stakeholders and translate insights.
• Develop and communicate strategic direction across multiple stakeholders.
• Serve as a strategic advisor and project manager for communications initiatives.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic communications and analytics efforts.
• Develop executive-level materials translating analysis into clear recommendations.
• Contribute to business growth through proposals, white papers, and related efforts.
