Job summary

American Holt, a ProMach product brand, is seeking a Senior Strategic Buyer to join our growing team. You will focus on sourcing, vendor development, and supply chain optimization in a manufacturing setting.

You will evaluate vendors, manage supplier performance, and leverage ERP/MRP systems to align purchasing with production needs. A bachelor’s in a related field and 3+ years of purchasing experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with NetSuite or Syteline or similar ERP system.
• Experience utilizing MRP functionality.
• Proficient in MS Office, with strong skills in Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with key vendors.
• Source and qualify new vendors to proactively manage supply risks, capacity constraints, quality issues, and other potential disruptions.
• Implement and utilize Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) software functionality.
• Determine production volumes and place orders to support sale and assembly demand while limiting excess inventory.
• Assist with identifying opportunities to improve purchasing processes, inventory efficiency, supplier performance, and cost control.
• Monitor supplier performance and proactively address issues related to pricing, quality, delivery, and lead times.
• Collaborate with Sales, Accounting, Engineering, and other internal teams to align purchasing activities with business and production requirements.
• Monitor market conditions to identify opportunities for cost savings and identify potential supply issues.
• Maintain accurate item, supplier, pricing, lead-time, and replenishment data within the ERP/MRP system.
• Analyze purchasing and inventory data to prepare reports and recommendations for management.
• Support management with purchasing projects, supplier evaluations, and other departmental initiatives as needed.
• Serve as a resource by sharing purchasing knowledge, experience, and best practices with the team.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
