Companion Data Services, a BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina subsidiary, seeks an experienced Systems Programmer to maintain and control core systems software across multi-platform environments. You will diagnose issues, design software builds, coordinate deployments, and ensure robust disaster recovery capabilities.

The role requires strong analytical skills and extensive IT experience, including mainframe tooling and storage management.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
• Understanding of operating systems and architecture.
• Extensive knowledge of systems programming and integration methodologies.
• Experience with mainframe tools and storage concepts.
• Ability to analyze system software and optimize performance.
• Familiarity with development and QA processes.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, isolate, and debug software problems and perform resolution.
• Review and design system software and hardware builds and document changes.
• Coordinate installation, testing, and maintenance of systems software.
• Review requests for patches and audit requirements; assess feasibility.
• Provide guidance to project teams and help evaluate vendor software.
• Help establish standards and guidelines for technology solutions.
• Provide disaster recovery support for systems software.
