Job summary

Empower AI, based in Reston, VA, is hiring a Senior Storage Administrator to manage enterprise storage across data centers and cloud environments. The role supports ALTESS and customers, with remote-eligible work and potential on-site/hybrid arrangements in Roanoke/Radford, Virginia.

DoD cybersecurity compliance and mission-critical IT services experience are key. The ideal candidate will have hands-on storage administration expertise, strong CLI, scripting in PowerShell and Bash, and experience

Qualifications

• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• CE Certification (MCSE, Server+, CCNA, RedHat, Palo) - may be waived for 30 days after project join date.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on storage experience considered.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• 3+ years in design, installation, security, and maintenance of highly available enterprise storage systems.
• 3+ years maintaining storage and network policies and standards.
• 3+ years refreshing data between environments on request of development staff.
• 3+ years creating, maintaining, and following SOPs for repeatable processes, disaster recovery, and problem resolution.
• 3+ years with MS-Windows, Solaris, and RHEL/OEL Linux environments.
• 3+ years administering storage networks.
• 3+ years with VMware 7.x or greater.
• 3+ years with IP-based network communication.
• Experience installing and configuring backup software with Windows Server 2019, Solaris 11, and RHEL7+.
• PowerShell and Bash scripting experience.
• Strong CLI skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and team player.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot, and support enterprise servers and storage systems for ALTESS and customers.
• Assist with implementing new system hardware and software and provide input for local procedures and policies.
• Monitor system operation and produce utilization reports to identify problems and corrective actions.
• Recommend and implement technologies to expand, upgrade, and increase efficiency of the environment.
• Design, install, configure, secure, and maintain highly available data storage systems.
• Maintain storage and network policies and standards.
• Refresh data between environments as requested by development staff.
• Administer storage networks and support backup software across Windows, Solaris, and RHEL/OEL Linux.
