Job summary

Voya Financial in Minnesota seeks an experienced Stop Loss underwriter to independently underwrite difficult applications and renewals, make risk and pricing decisions, and provide training to lower-level underwriters. You will coordinate underwriting on proposals, new cases, renewals and amendments, and ensure the client’s benefit plan design can be administered.

This hybrid role near the Minneapolis area requires 4–6 years underwriting experience, strong analytical and communication skills,

Qualifications

• 4-6 years underwriting experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and guidance to lower-level group underwriters.
• Evaluate risk and analyze data to determine benefits and rates.
• Ensure proper pricing and funding methods.
• Coordinate underwriting activities on proposals, new cases, renewals, and amendments.
• Support administration of client benefit plan design and funding method.
• Develop and maintain relationships with field personnel and clients.
• Document and communicate decisions to the division.
• Review cases exceeding underwriter’s review level.
• Analyze client profitability to support division profitability.
• Participate in product development and enhancements.
• Represent underwriting perspective based on experience.
• Participate in regional marketing rollouts.
• Other duties as assigned.
