Job summary

Tennova Healthcare- North Knoxville Medical Center is seeking a Sterile Process Technician II to prepare, assemble, and sterilize medical supplies and instruments with advanced proficiency. This role supports department operations, ensures compliance with decontamination protocols, and contributes to ongoing process improvements in sterile processing services.

The position requires 2–4 years of sterile processing experience and relevant certifications, with opportunities to mentor junior staff

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in sterile processing or a related role.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification may be required after July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing, packaging, disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical supplies and equipment.
• Assembles complex instrument trays and sets for surgeries.
• Distributes supplies to appropriate areas with proper documentation.
• Monitors and documents results of physical, chemical, and biological indicators for sterilization.
• Operates all equipment used in sterile processing, including sterilizers and decontamination units.
• Maintains and improves quality of sterile processing services by identifying process gaps.
• Provides guidance and on-the-job training to Sterile Process Technician I staff.
• Performs quality control on sterilized instruments and addresses deficiencies with leadership.
• Maintains inventory by restocking supplies and logging usage, expiration dates, and testing results.
• Adheres to PPE and infection control protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
• Maintains privacy of health information per hospital policies.
• Completes a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education annually.
