Job summary

Wellstar Health System seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure equipment meets the highest quality and safety standards. The role requires meticulous adherence to protocols and accurate handling of surgical instruments.

You will receive and process incoming supplies, perform cleaning and sterilizing duties, and prepare instrument packs in Central Sterile Supply as directed. Strong attention to detail and teamwork with OR staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to retain knowledge of identification and necessary handling requirements of surgical instruments, medical supplies and equipment.
• Must be able to understand, speak, and write English fluently to communicate with the nursing, technical and medical staff.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, receives, cleans, disinfects, and decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Operates washer-decontaminator, cart washer, and ultrasonic cleaner to mechanically decontaminate instruments and equipment.
• Inspects surgical instruments and equipment to ensure proper cleanliness and working order.
• Scans barcodes and documents tray counts for accountability.
