Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician III in Brookline, MA. You will perform advanced sterile processing, decontaminate and inspect instruments, assemble trays, and operate sterilizers while maintaining accurate documentation.

You will also precept staff, support shift operations, and participate in weekend on-call rotations. Active CSPDT/CRCST certification is required with strong instrument knowledge and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• CRCST or CSPDT Certification via HSPA or CBSPD is required.
• CIS issued by HSPA preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of surgical instruments and specialty instruments is required.
• Basic computer skills and aptitude for electronics helpful for troubleshooting is required.
• Collaborates effectively with team members to achieve shared goals and support overall team performance.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates surgical instruments according to manufacturer’s instructions or guidance from CSPD leadership.
• Inspect instruments after decontamination for cleanliness, integrity, and accountability.
• Assembles instrument trays ensuring sterility and ease of use with correct count sheets.
• Proficiently interface with department tracking systems for processing functions.
• Assembles/packages instrument sets per guidelines and standards.
• Load sterilizer carts; ensure items remain intact and properly stored.
• Perform daily sterilizer testing and maintain records for accuracy.
• Operate sterilizers per guidelines and monitor biological indicators.
• Document load contents and update tracking system with cycle data.
• Picks scheduled cases based on preference cards and surgical schedule.
• Provide support for daily operations and ensure departmental coverage.
• Coordinate coverage when supervisor is absent to maintain leadership continuity.
• Participate in rotating weekend on-call schedule and NEBH on-call policies.
