Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina in Orangeburg, SC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician III to join the night shift. The role performs duties of Sterile Processing Tech I and serves as a resource and preceptor, working independently in all areas and maintaining unit quality control.

You will handle sterilization, instrument assembly, decontamination, and distribution, follow ANSI/AAMI, AORN, OSHA standards, monitor sterilizers, and participate in safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of various types of reusable surgical instrumentation, including power equipment and micro surgical instrumentation.
Requires basic computer skills.
Knows fire and safety procedures for work area.
Capable of operating sterilizers, washer/disinfector and cart washer.
Follows regulatory requirements and Joint Commission Standards.

Responsibilities

Practices within the standards of ANSI/AAMI, AORN, OSHA and MUSC policies.
Performs basic computer functions and maintains daily records.
Communicates with operating room staff to provide required instruments.
Restocks, rotates, checks expiration dates and stores supplies in Sterile Storage.
Operates sterilizers and related equipment with attention to safety and accuracy.
