Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to support procedural areas across the enterprise from Orangeburg. The role is full-time, 5 x 8-hour shifts, with an evening shift (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm).

The team processes instruments, maintains inventory, and ensures sterilization readiness for operating rooms. Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED and CRCST or CBSPD certification, with six months of sterile processing experience preferred in a hospital or

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and CRCST or CBSPD certification.
• Minimum six months sterile processing experience, preferably in a hospital or surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment.
• Perform decontamination and cleaning of all instrumentation per established standards.
• Prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load into washer/sterilizer as prescribed.
• Operate index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners and manual cleaning per procedures.
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function and breakage.
• Wrap or pouch instruments according to size and policy.
• Sterilize instruments and surgical trays following procedures.
• Run tests on sterilizers and document all parameters.
• Use chemicals safely and wear appropriate PPE.
• Assist OR team to expedite instrument availability for procedures.
• Travel between sites as needed.
