Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center's Children’s Sterile Processing department seeks a Sterile Processing Tech II to inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize instrument sets for the OR and related areas. You will operate sterilizers, prepare sterile items, and maintain instrument records.

Requirements include a high school diploma/GED and 1 year of sterile processing or surgical technology experience; certifications such as CSPDT, CSIS, or CRCST are accepted.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching required.
• Basic computer skills and basic reading/writing skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Insures the cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, maintenance, integrity, and preparations of surgical instruments, and equipment for distribution.
• Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures pertaining to cleaning, sterilization, assembling, storage, and/or validation of medical supplies and equipment.
• Ensures compliance with safety, environmental and/or infection control practices.
• Maintains applicable records and files; operates sterilization equipment and washers and maintains quality/safety controls documentation.
