Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Supervisor CSPD to plan and coordinate decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization and storage of medical supplies used in patient care. Ensures compliance with Mount Sinai policies and improves processes to meet patient and physician needs.

Responsibilities include supervising all sterile processing steps, coordinating staffing (including weekends), and collaborating with other departments to resolve instrument problems and supply shortages

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required.
• 3 years sterile processing experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• CRCST certification preferred or required by facility.

Responsibilities

• Supervises all sterilization processes including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, storage and distribution of supplies.
• Monitors work in progress to ensure adherence to sterile processing standards; takes corrective action as needed.
• Coordinates staffing schedules and ensures adequate coverage, including weekends.
• Coordinates with other departments to resolve instrument problems and supply needs or shortages.
• Develops processes meeting patient, physician and user department needs within productivity and budget targets.
• Maintains and monitors inventory; orders supplies and equipment within expense parameters.
• Assists Purchasing with trade-outs or equipment purchases; performs minor repairs in area.
• Participates in development of department policies and standards related to Sterile Processing.
• Manages personnel functions: hiring, performance appraisals, training, disciplinary actions, terminations; conducts in-services.
