Job summary

Con Edison seeks a Senior Engineer to lead design, maintenance, and reliability improvements for steam distribution equipment. You will oversee valves, traps, pumps, sensors, and related gear, manage design changes with vendors, review prototypes, and track performance.

The role requires strong communication, field support, and project leadership. You will create specs, participate in testing, and provide cross‐functional training for new equipment, including after‑hours emergency response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 8+ years of engineering work in design/applications, NY P.E. eligibility preferred.
• Master's degree with a bachelor's in engineering and 6+ years of engineering work experience, NY P.E. eligibility.
• Preferred: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Create, review and update Steam Distribution Equipment specifications (Purchase/Test, Operation & Maintenance).
• Inspect and resolve field issues impacting safe, reliable steam operation.
• Provide field support with analyses related to equipment failures and performance.
• Lead projects with vendors and internal teams to develop or improve equipment functionality.
• Monitor, test and document new prototype equipment deployed via R&D projects.
• Prepare training/docs for commissioning of new equipment.
• Lead during emergencies and present on technical topics related to steam equipment.
