Job summary

SPC Mechanical is seeking a Startup / Commissioning Specialist to lead a team of Sr. Technicians, Technicians, and Helpers across regional projects. You will own startup, internal commissioning, and turnover processes, ensuring adherence to SPC standards and safety requirements.

You will coordinate with Project Managers, GCs, owners, and engineers; plan resources, review turnover packages, mentor staff, and drive quality, accountability, and teamwork on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of mechanical service, startup, or commissioning experience (lead role preferred).
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and commissioning sequences.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technicians and helpers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with customers, GCs, and engineers.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule multiple projects and resources.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Sr. Technicians, Technicians, and Helpers across regions.
• Assign resources based on schedule and skill, balancing workload.
• Coordinate with other Specialists to share coverage across regions.
• Coach and develop the team on startup/commissioning processes and SPC standards.
• Review timesheets and maintain certifications and training needs.
• Forecast startup/commissioning requirements with PMs and field teams.
• Own internal commissioning process as a quality gate and ensure turnover readiness.
• Oversee vendor and factory startups, tests, and owner training.
• Support warranty responses and coordinate with service leadership.
• Prepare for inspections and ensure safety, OSHA compliance, and PPE use.
