Job summary

SPC Mechanical Corporation seeks a Startup / Commissioning Specialist to lead a regional team of Sr. Technicians, Technicians, and Helpers, ensuring startups, internal commissioning, turnover, and warranty work meet SPC Mechanical’s standards.

The role owns quality and consistency of startup across projects, plans resources, and develops career paths while coordinating with Project Managers, superintendents, GCs, owners, and engineers, staying hands-on in the field when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of mechanical service, equipment startup, or commissioning experience with lead/supervisory roles.
• Deep understanding of HVAC and plumbing installation, equipment capabilities, and controls systems.
• Strong startup, test and balancing, commissioning, and diagnosis skills.
• Proficient reading of drawings, specs, submittals, IOMs, and sequences of operation.
• Ability to lead, coach, and develop Technicians and Helpers with accountability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with customers, GCs, subcontractors, and engineers.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule multiple projects and resources.
• Safety-first mindset and willingness to travel across the coverage area.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise field team across projects with clear direction and accountability.
• Coordinate startup schedules with Project Managers, GCs, owners, and engineers.
• Develop and implement startup and commissioning checklists and test scripts.
• Ensure QA/QC processes are followed and turnover packages are complete.
• Provide technical guidance to field personnel and subcontractors in commissioning.
• Improve team development and track certifications and training.
