Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Senior Staff Structural Analysis & Vibration Engineer to be the structural SME for V-BAT. You will own loads, stress, dynamics, and weight optimization, and mentor engineers in FEA and structural fundamentals.

You will define system-level structural requirements, lead analyses, and drive test planning and validation for a VTOL unmanned aircraft in production and deployment worldwide.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 12+ years of structural analysis experience on aircraft, UAS, or complex systems.
• Expert knowledge of structural mechanics, strength, fatigue, and dynamics.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain company structural standards, design criteria, etc.
• Own V-BAT system loads and define structural requirements for subsystems.
• Lead static, modal, dynamic, and fatigue analyses of V-BAT structures using hand calculations and FEA (Simcenter).
• Lead composite structural analysis and define composite design requirements.
• Serve as the bolted joint expert for the program.
• Own vibration and shock environments; develop test requirements from flight data.
• Define and improve vibration test requirements and processes from planning to validation.
• Lead a weight optimization review and analyze new designs for weight efficiency.
• Review analyses, test reports, and present findings to leadership and customers.
• Mentor engineers in FEA and structural fundamentals.
