Realtor.com is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the most ambiguous, high‑impact problems with a system‑wide view. You’ll partner with Product, Engineering, and Design to define strategy and deliver durable, scalable solutions for customer‑ and client‑facing experiences.

You will set a high bar for engineering excellence through technical leadership, code quality, and mentoring across teams, operating in an Agile environment and driving architecture decisions with impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software development.
• 4+ years of experience contributing to architecture and design.
• Experience building software in, or the interest and ability to learn, the Realtor.com stack of Python, NestJS, React, TypeScript, and Next.js.
• Experience with database warehousing and data pipelines such as Snowflake and Airflow; AWS knowledge preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across teams and departments.
• Demonstrated success delivering high value to customers quickly and frequently, with regular feedback and support.
• Strong experience with system design and making thoughtful trade‑offs between different design approaches.
• Strong software engineering best practices, including testing, code reviews, documentation, and operational ownership.
• A track record of mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across a broader engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery, quality, and reliability of client‑facing applications from the user interface to the data store, with responsibility at a system‑wide level.
• Lead the design and evolution of scalable architectures, guiding multiple teams and platforms.
• Drive technical trade‑offs between speed, maintainability, and scalability while promoting reuse of proven solutions.
• Partner with Product Management on project ideas, technical discovery, and solution shaping for complex initiatives.
• Mentor and develop engineers across teams through code reviews and design discussions.
• Operate effectively in an Agile/Scrum product development environment.
• Present products, architectural direction, and key initiatives to stakeholders and leadership.
