Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Technical Lead for the Lakebase Manager (LBM) team to drive central control plane functionality—database lifecycle, wake/suspend, and HA failover—at scale.

As an individual contributor, you will set technical direction, architect critical components, and mentor engineers while collaborating with product leadership on a long-term roadmap. Strong Go/Rust skills and PostgreSQL/Kubernetes familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Track record of technical leadership as an individual contributor.
• Strong hands-on depth: design systems and write production code.
• Experience operating reliability-critical services (on-call, HA/failover).
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, PostgreSQL, or similar systems languages; Kubernetes is a plus.
• BS (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for Lakebase Manager and own reliability of the team’s output.
• Drive architecture and write code on the most challenging parts of your projects.
• Set and uphold high technical standards through reviews and testing.
• Mentor engineers and grow distributed-systems and design skills.
• Define SLIs, meet SLOs, and improve database lifecycle reliability.
• Lead cross-team initiatives across the Lakebase stack.
• Partner with leadership to shape and deliver a long-term technical roadmap.
