Job summary

Google Cloud is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead IAM strategy across policy, platform, and AI teams in Sunnyvale, CA. You will architect scalable identity and access management solutions for Google's enterprise-scale systems.

You will influence technical direction, prototype AI-enhanced auth approaches, and collaborate with GCP leaders to ensure secure, reliable access control across services.

Responsibilities

• Architect the long-term engineering direction for Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems, resolving platform fragmentation and centralizing the authorization evaluation model for core platforms.
• Serve as the deep-domain technical authority on hyper-reliable infrastructure, leading complex, multi-year engineering programs to ensure fast, scalable, and always-correct IAM enforcement.
• Advise the next-generation evolution of IAM capabilities by identifying, prototyping, and integrating novel AI approaches into reliable production systems.
• Build and influence strategic collaborations with executive Google Cloud Platform (GCP) leadership (Product Managers, Engineering Leads, Technical Program Mangers) to define and drive the overarching technical goal for the IAM space.
• Provide technical oversight and thought leadership while proactively fostering a collaborative culture focused on mentoring and developing engineering talent.

You will resolve complex technical problems (like de-fragmenting IAM Policy Enforcement Points) with innovative, centralized evaluation solutions. You will demonstrate deep technical expertise to build a secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure for Google Cloud, collaborating with IAM leaders to help GCP services integrate access control simply and enforce access control consistently.
