Job summary

Lyric is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive design and implementation of mission-critical systems in a remote US setting. This high-level IC role leads architectural decisions, mentors engineers, and remains hands-on to build scalable software.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of software engineering experience, deep knowledge of distributed systems, and proficiency in Java/Go/Python/TypeScript. Expertise in Kubernetes and cloud infra is preferred for scalable, secure systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years of software engineering experience with designing and shipping large-scale systems.
• Deep proficiency in one or more backend or full stack languages (Java, Go, Python, TypeScript).
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, API designs, databases (SQL and NoSQL), and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and observability practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement core services, systems, and APIs with a focus on scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Serve as a technical leader across multiple projects, guiding system design, coding best practices, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, and contribute to technical documentation and RFCs.
• Investigate and resolve production issues to ensure reliability and uptime.
• Drive adoption of engineering best practices, tools, and frameworks across teams.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers.
