Job summary

SciTec, Dayton, OH, seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to design, develop, and sustain high-quality software systems for advanced analysis and data processing workflows. You will work on distributed systems, microservices, and real-time data pipelines, collaborating with scientific users in a mission-focused environment.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, strong software engineering judgment, and can mentor junior engineers while guiding

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong OO programming with modern language features.
• Experience with microservice architectures and distributed systems.
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proven ability to write and maintain automated tests.
• Ability to collaborate across technical disciplines.
• DoD security clearance eligibility is required.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-quality software aligned with program objectives.
• Deliver complex features end to end, independently or with teams.
• Collaborate with scientific users to translate analysis needs into robust software solutions.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of messaging systems and data pipelines.
• Contribute to containerized distributed microservice architectures and testing.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and collaboration.
• Promote testing, documentation, and maintainability in all work.
