Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Blockchain Platform team. You will define the technical vision for infrastructure powering core crypto actions across 60+ networks and 300+ tokens.

You will lead architecture for wallet stack, indexing infrastructure, and asset identifier systems, driving availability, latency, cost efficiency, and security at global scale. You will guide multi-quarter strategies, oversee cross-team initiatives, and set standards for correctness,

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4+ years in staff-plus roles designing and scaling high-throughput, auditable systems.
• Hands-on experience with one or more blockchain protocols at node/protocol level (e.g., EVM, Solana, Bitcoin, L2s).
• Proven track record leading large multi-team architectural initiatives at global-scale infrastructure companies.
• Experience applying AI or agent-based automation to reduce operational toil with measurable improvements.
• Generates human-overseeable outputs when using generative AI to improve workflows, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive multi-quarter technical strategy for Blockchain Platform including nodes, wallets, indexing, and asset lifecycle.
• Architect core infrastructure for high availability, low latency, cost efficiency, and security at global scale.
• Lead end-to-end design and rollout of large, cross-team architectural initiatives with clear milestones and outcomes.
• Set engineering standards for correctness, security, reliability, testing, and observability across crypto asset ops.
• Own data-driven reliability improvements using observability signals to identify gaps and drive remediation.
• Represent Blockchain Platform in exec and cross-org forums, securing buy-in for high-impact technical bets.
