Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Blockchain Platform to define the technical vision that connects every Coinbase product to the broader crypto economy. You will build and operate the nodes, indexers, wallets, and orchestration systems powering 60+ networks and 300+ tokens across the platform.

You will lead architecture for wallet stack, indexing, and asset identifier systems, shaping how millions of transactions are executed with speed, cost efficiency, and security

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with one or more blockchain protocols at the node or protocol level (e.g., EVM chains, Solana, Bitcoin, L2s).
• Proven track record of leading large-scale architectural initiatives from design through production at global scale.
• Experience applying AI or agent-based automation to reduce operational toil in platform contexts.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the multi-quarter technical strategy for Blockchain Platform, spanning nodes, wallets, indexing, and asset lifecycle.
• Architect and evolve core platform infrastructure for high availability, low latency, cost efficiency, and security.
• Lead end-to-end design and rollout of large cross-team architectural initiatives with clear milestones.
• Drive engineering standards for correctness, security, reliability, testing, and observability.
• Own data-driven reliability improvements using observability signals to lead remediation.
• Represent Blockchain Platform in executive forums and secure buy-in for high-impact technical bets.
