Job summary

Red 6 Aerospace, Inc. seeks a Staff Software Architect (Level 4) to define and evolve software architectures for ATARS across embedded, real-time, cloud, and edge environments.

You will work with engineering leadership to ensure scalable, secure, and mission-ready software aligned with MOSA, FACE, and other defense standards. The role involves hands-on architectural work, DO-178/AC 17-01 familiarity, and collaboration with product teams to meet performance, safety, and cybersecurity

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with architecture/leadership.
• Experience with embedded systems, distributed computing, cloud platforms, and real-time apps.
• Flight-critical/safety-critical software experience; DO-178 / AC 17-01 preferred.
• Understanding of microservices, event-driven architectures, containerized apps, and edge computing.
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, secure software practices.
• Embedded Linux, RTOS, networking, GPU computing, high-performance architectures.
• Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Define, document, and evolve software architectures for ATARS and future products.
• Lead architectural designs across embedded software, real-time rendering, simulation, and cloud infrastructure.
• Design for latency, determinism, scalability, cybersecurity, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to align software with system architecture and roadmaps.
• Develop modular, reusable architectures supporting MOSA, OMS/UCI, FACE, and other standards.
• Implement and certify safety-critical code to DO-178 / similar standards.
• Promote design standards, API practices, code quality, and secure SDLC.
• Contribute to modernization like containerization, CI/CD, IaC, and DevSecOps.
• Collaborate on Digital Engineering, MBSE, and verification planning.
• Support customer engagements and technical discussions.
