We are seeking a Senior Staff Scientist passionate about connectomics and sequencing to lead a project mapping cortical circuits at the synaptic level in the mouse brain.
The Senior Staff Scientist will collaborate with a team of academic, staff, and industrial researchers on FISSEQ (Fluorescent in situ sequencing) technology. They will manage the Wyss component of the IARPA Machine Intelligence from Cortical Networks (MICrONS) project, overseeing a team of Scientists, Postdocs, Engineers, and Technicians at the Wyss Institute, and coordinate with IARPA and project partners. The project involves institutions such as Harvard Medical School, MIT, Cold Spring Harbor Labs, and Columbia University. The role includes bench work in FISSEQ development.
Reporting to the Lead Senior Staff Scientist in Synthetic Biology, responsibilities include developing research lines in FISSEQ, improving current methods, and developing new protocols. The candidate will focus on tissue section FISSEQ, optimization with Proximity Ligation, and transgenic mouse models. Additional duties involve developing new technologies, conducting experiments, mentoring, collaborating on publications and proposals, and presenting findings. Laboratory management tasks such as maintaining budgets and equipment are also required.
PhD in Biology or related field is required, with at least 4 years of experience in molecular biology or related areas. Strong expertise in synthetic biology, genetics, and molecular biology protocols is essential.
