Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Redondo Beach, CA seeks a Senior Staff Engineer Optical to lead architectures and requirements for space EO/IR payloads. You will perform modeling, analysis, verification and testing, and collaborate with external suppliers and customers.

This role requires advanced degrees and extensive aerospace experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with ≥14 years (or 12 with Master's or 10 with PhD) experience developing optical subsystems in aerospace.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain active U.S. government security clearance.
Experience developing space EO/IR payloads, including design, modeling, analysis, verification and testing.
Experience working with external suppliers for space-based optical payloads.
Experience with CODE V, FRED, and MATLAB.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of architectures and requirements for space EO/IR payloads.
Execute optical performance modeling and analysis.
Perform verification and testing of optical hardware and subsystems.
Work with external suppliers to address technical and execution challenges.
Engage with senior customer leadership and external stakeholders to address multi-disciplinary technical challenges.
