Job summary

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in Chelsea is seeking a Senior Staff Nurse (Band 6) to join the Medical Day Unit. This role focuses on administering systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and providing coordinated, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced cancer setting.

You will be a registered nurse with IV medication administration experience and strong clinical assessment skills, with training provided for venepuncture and cannulation.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with intravenous medication administration experience.
• Venepuncture and cannulation desirable; training provided.
• Excellent oral and written communication and strong clinical assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe environment for cancer patients receiving SACT.
• Educate patients on SACT and side effects to empower timely management.
• Practice within Trust protocols, including clinical trials, and support junior colleagues.
• Lead recognition of signs of deterioration and respond promptly.
• Utilise time-management and prioritisation to manage a high-demand caseload and support juniors.
• Engage in educational programmes and ward-based projects to advance development.
• Assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in managing colleagues and the clinical environment.
