While relevant work experience is required, we are looking for candidates who exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to learn and accept new challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide design recommendations for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and embankments.
  • Perform construction monitoring and quality assurance on active construction sites, including subgrade reviews, pile installation, anchor testing, and geomembrane installation.
  • Perform dam safety inspections for existing dams.
  • Develop project-specific design criteria using relevant design codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collect, review, and organize historical project data, including drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Prepare geotechnical data and design reports and provide contributions to multidisciplinary design documentation reports.
  • Collaborate with Design Technology staff to prepare and revise project drawings.
  • Communicate directly with multidisciplinary engineering teams to interpret geotechnical/geological conditions and their implications on design and construction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geological or Civil Engineering (with a geotechnical focus) preferred. A Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering is considered an asset.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Professional Engineer (preferably P.E. in at least one State; a P.Eng. in at least one Province/Territory is an asset).
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience, with experience in subsurface geotechnical investigations for dam projects as a significant asset.
  • Proficiency in field logging, classification, in situ and laboratory testing of soil and rock using various drilling and testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with relevant design codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements preferred.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and communicating design intent from contract documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Keen attitude and willingness to learn and accept constructive criticism.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 40% of the year and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively in multi-discipline teams.
