Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for the Merchant Experience team to lead a portfolio of merchant-facing experiences, with a focus on quality, performance, and AI-powered enhancements. You will shape the next generation of Stripe dashboards and tools, guiding 50+ engineers across multiple teams and collaborating with Product, Design, AI/ML, and Infrastructure.

This hybrid role involves mentoring engineers and driving architectural improvements.

Qualifications

• Senior Staff role overseeing the work of 4-6 teams and owning an entire portfolio of products

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy for merchant-facing experiences across Stripe, focusing on quality, performance, and AI integration
• Lead complex cross-team projects to improve reliability, responsiveness, and polish of Stripe merchant surfaces
• Champion a quality-first engineering culture with standards, tooling, and processes for high-quality, performant UI by default
• Drive performance as a product feature and own the technical approach to making the Dashboard and merchant tools fast and scalable
• Innovate on future merchant UX by exploring AI-driven changes to discovery, configuration, and operation of Stripe products
• Build platforms and abstractions that improve developer productivity, including frameworks and developer tools
• Collaborate with Product, Design, AI/ML, and Infra to translate product vision into a concrete technical roadmap
• Mentor engineers across the org to raise technical bar and nurture craftsmanship
